Youth football club get help from Tesco
Tuesday, 3rd November 2009.
West Wratting Youth Football Club has received a donation from Haverhill’s new Tesco superstore.
Kevin Ager, chairman of the West Wratting Youth club, Keith Warnock, the under 14s manager and some of the players were on hand to receive the £500 donation from community champion Claire Bowden as part of the store’s community initiatives.
Kevin said: “The squad is split 50/50 between Haverhill and the surrounding villages, and I firmly believe West Wratting provides an environment where the boys can grow and develop not only as footballers but also as young adults.
“Funding is always a challenge, so this superb support from Tesco along with our own fund raising helps us to provide safe and appropriate training venues as well as the necessary equipment to ensure the boys are given the best possible environment to flourish.”
Community champion Claire said: “I was more than happy to present Kevin, Keith and the boys with the donation. I hope it goes a long way to helping them, and it was pleasure meeting them.”
