Youngsters get help managing their finances
Thursday, 30th August 2001.
YOUNG residents at Cangle Junction in Haverhill will be getting a helping hand with managing their finances now a new credit union branch has opened there.
The Anglia Rainbow Credit Union, which already has a base at the Co-op store in Jubilee Walk, Haverhill, has just launched the second at Cangle Junction.
Pete Husbands, who manages the young people's housing and training centre, said the new facility came about after someone from the credit union gave a talk at a residents' meeting.
"Part of their training for when they move out of here is about managing money and taking responsibility for their finances. The credit union can offer better returns on savings and loans," Mr Husbands said.
Cangle Junction has been open for almost two years and currently has a few places available to young people. Anyone interested should ring (01440) 715400.
* Plans to open a cyber cafe to the public have been delayed by VAT problems and work to line the roof. It is hoped that the cafe may be open next month, run by the Sunflower Cafe team, which already operates at the Burton Centre.
