Worshippers make a traditional ascent
Thursday, 13th May 2010.
A glorious morning and a cloudless blue sky greeted worshippers at St Mary's Church in Haverhill this morning for the traditional Ascension Day singing at the top of the church tower.
Adults and children assembled at 7.30am for the climb up the spiral staircase to the top of the tower to sing an Ascension Day hymn before returning to the church for a service followed by breakfast.
This year, for the first time, the view of the town from the tower had a large new element in it to look at - the Tesco superstore.
