Work starts on wildlife area
Thursday, 23rd September 1999.
WORK has started on creating Haverhill's first Community Wildlife Area at Elm Close.
Community Service workers from the Probation Service joined other volunteers to start digging out topsoil at the site, near Haverhill cemetery.
Work began by removing the top soil and digging out the line of the footpath and will continue on four consecutive Sundays, finishing on October 3.
Visitors are welcome to come along and help with the physical work, or just see what is happening.
Organiser Wendy Bradnam would be happy to talk about any ideas, offers of help or concerns about the progress of the Wildlife Area.
