Work Begins to Calm Traffic
Tuesday, 25th March 2003.
WORK has started this week on traffic calming measures at Withersfield Road in Haverhill, where residents mounted a petition last year over speeding traffic.
The first phase of the scheme, involving lining and resurfacing, began yesterday.
A spokesman for St Edmundsbury Borough Council said some minor local delays were expected while the work was going on, but no major traffic problems.
The second phase of the scheme, including innovative flashing lights, is expected to follow in mid-April.
