Women leap from upstairs window to escape attacker

Two young women jumped out of an upstairs window to escape from at attacker who burst into a house in Haverhill on Saturday.
The man kicked the door in and police were called as a man living at the house in Elmdon Place was attacked.
The two women fled upstairs and jumped from a window to escape the incident, one suffering a broken elbow and the other spinal injuries.
Police were called soon after 4pm to reports the door had been kicked in and furniture was being thrown around.
Officers arrived to find an altercation going on outside the address and immediately detained a 27-year-old man. They also seized a knife at the scene.
A man at the address was assaulted sustaining swelling to his lip. The injuries to the women are not thought to be life-threatening. Both were taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital for treatment.
The man detained by police has been charged with aggravated burglary, but police are still investigating the incident to establish exactly what happened.
They are asking anyone who was in the area around this time to come forward if they saw any part of the incident.
