Woman seriously hurt in crash
Monday, 4th January 2010.
A woman suffered serious neck injuries when the car she was driving collided with a garage in Shetland Road, Haverhill, on New Year's Day.
The woman was driving a silver Vauxhall Astra at around 11.20am when it collided with the garage of a house on the corner of Fisher Close.
A male passenger in the car suffered slight head injuries, but the driver was trapped in the car for an hour before emergency services were able to release her.
The owner of the property damaged was away, so St Edmundsbury Council engineers were called to make the building safe for passers-by, and an area was fenced off.
Shetland Road was closed for seven hours while the work was completed.
