Woman bids to net old friends
Thursday, 1st July 1999.
A WEBSITE devoted to Haverhill has prompted woman in America to search for some of her old friends.
The Haverhill-UK site has attracted 4,500 visitors since it was set up by enthusiast Jason Fitzpatrick in March. One of those was Tina Stroh, 37, formerly Tina Cogan, from her home in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia.
Tina uses the internet to keep in touch with friends around the world and discovered Haverhill-UK offered a vital link to her past.
She visited the photo library of Haverhill and now has pictures of the High Street adourning her computer screen. Now she is hoping that anyone who remembers her will contact her via E-mail or through Jason Fitzpatrick.
Her memories of Haverhill include fairs on the recreation ground and apple orchards which are now part of the Chimswell estate.
She also recalls being one of the first students to attend Castle Hill Middle School and summers at Puddlebrook. Tina added: "I enjoy the web. I use it for my college project, and to check the Haverhill-UK website and the Cambridge Evening News web pages."
"People in the UK seem a bit slow on the uptake of the Internet. Over here, I don't know what I'd do without it anymore."
She would especially like to hear from Carol Cowap, Julie Bassette, Julie Buckton, Ton Halpin and Debbie Manley.
She can be contacted by visiting the guest book on the site at www.Haverhill-UK.com or through Jason on (01440) 707246.
