Witnesses sought after spree of tyre-slashing on Birds estate
Monday, 10th December 2012.
Police in Haverhill are appealing for witnesses after a spate of car tyre damage in the town.
Police have received 11 reports of cars having their tyres slashed on the Birds part of the Chalkstone estate.
The incidents happened overnight on Saturday to Sunday in Gannet Close, Kingfisher Close, Woodcock Close, Tern Close and Eriswell Road.
Twelve cars were affected with 19 tyres in total being slashed with an unknown object.
PC Will Wright of Haverhill Safer Neighbourhood Team, who is beat officer for the Chalkstone, said: "Nobody seeing this sort of repeat crime. Someone must know something, so we are appealing for witnesses.
"This is a costly time of year for everyone and the last thing people need is to have to find another £80-£100 a tyre.
"We suspect this is the work of one person or group of persons. Has anyone seen anything on social media where they may have been bragging about it?"
Police are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area and saw person or persons acting suspiciously.
