Wind and strings combine for concert

Suffolk County Music Service is presenting a concert at Samuel Ward Upper School, Haverhill, on Friday at 7.30pm.
The concert will feature West Suffolk Youth Wind Band and Samuel Ward Upper School String Quartet.
With this line-up, the audience will be guaranteed an entertaining evening of music in contrasting styles. Tickets cost £5 for adults and £3 for children and students, and are available by calling 01473 281866 or on the door.
The West Suffolk Youth Wind Band is made up of West Suffolk youngsters, under the age of 19, who rehearse weekly during term-time in Bury St Edmunds. This event is part of a wide range of musical opportunities available to young Suffolk musicians in the county.
The members of the string quartet are also all members of the West Suffolk Youth Orchestra, but on this occasion they will be performing music of a more intimate nature, contrasting with the exciting sound of the wind band.
