Where Are Haverhill’s Answer to Pan’s People?
Thursday, 1st May 2008.
Where are members of the dance troupe who wowed Haverhill Secondary Modern School in the early seventies? The Haverhill-UK Message Boards have highlighted the quest of former students of HSMS to find the girls they have never forgotten.
In the words of one poster: “… VERY interested ex-HSMS middle aged pupils are still trying to establish who the 'Pan’s People style' dance troupe of girls were (5th & 6th formers?), that went on to the Assembly Stage(Circa 1970/1) with 'skimpy' outfits… dancing to 'the original 'Spirit in the Sky'?? They even performed an encore! Then everyone went off to classes, after picking up many dropped jaws off the hall floor on that day.”
The subject of many fond discussions on the Banter Board, it seems this was one Assembly that had real impact and has never been forgotten.
The real Pans People were a British TV Dance group of the late sixties and seventies who are best remembered for their performances on Top of the Pops.
Haverhill-UK would love to hear from anyone who remembers, or can shed light, on this momentous HSMS Assembly. Who were those girls and where are they now?
