Welcome Donation for Wednesdays for Women
Thursday, 6th February 2003.
A WELCOME cash boost of £200 has been handed to Haverhill's successful Wednesdays for Women group by the Ipswich Building Society.
Jonathan Gleeson, the society's Haverhill branch manager, visited the group at the Leiston Centre to hand over the money, which comes from its Community Grant Scheme.
The Haverhill branch has also selected the group as its current chosen charity and will be raising more money by selling cakes in the future.
Eileen Jarred, of Wednesdays for Women, said the money would help contributing to the general running costs of keeping the group going.
"Someone had heard about our group and suggested they should give us a grant. We were really pleased and we are very grateful for the money, it is brilliant," Eileen said.
Wednesdays for Women is now in its sixth year and has been very successful in helping to overcome depression and isolation for women on the Clements Estate
