Warning after thefts of tricycles on Clements estate
Monday, 19th May 2014.
Police are warning cyclists to keep their bikes secure to avoid having them stolen, after two tricycles were stolen within a couple of days of each other on the Clements estate.
Between 4.30pm on Friday, May 9, and 8am on Monday, May 12, a Theraplay disabled tricycle valued at £1,500 was stolen from the grounds of Clements Primary School, although it was recovered next day.
The tricycle was bought by the school for the use of a child in the nursery school, and left outside on the school grounds over the weekend.
The child's mother put a description of the bike on Facebook and next day someone contacted her to say it had been left outside their house.
Meanwhile, overnight on Sunday, May 11 to Monday, May 12, a three-wheeled child's bicycle valued at £150 was stolen from the garden of a house in Abercorn Court, where the rear gate had been left unlocked.
This bike has not been recovered. Police are warning people not to leave gates unlocked or to put bicycles in their sheds.
