Warning after lead thefts from factory roofs

Businesses on Haverhill's industrial estate are being warned by police not to make it easy for anyone to get onto their roofs after a series of lead thefts.
Overnight between 7pm last Wednesday and 9.45am the following day 50ft of lead flashing, worth £1,500 was stolen from around skylights of the Herberts premises in Rookwood Way.
Over the weekend £100 worth of lead was taken from the roof of Green Thumb in Hollands Ropad, and another £100 worth of lead taken from the roof of PSS Manufacturing in Hollands Road.
PC Rupert Beynon of Haverhill Safer Neighbourhood Team urged businesses to make it difficult fo0r theives to get onto their roofs.
"Remember, if you can get onto your roof, others can too," he said.
"Don't leave vehicles parked near roofs, or put wheelie bins where they can be used to climb up."
PC Beynon also suggested using anti-climb paint sduch as is used on CCTV poles, or even sticky bitumen paint which can deter thieves, and to look into installing more security lighting
