Warning: if you park in The Pightle you'll get a ticket

Haverhill Police have issued a warning that from Thursday they will be enforcing the parking prohibition in The Pightle.
Ever since the Tesco development there has been a prohibition on parking in the road, which has been remodelled as an attractive cul-de-sac.
It was felt double yellow lines would spoil the appearance of the area, but traffic regulations were put in force.
Unfortunately, the signage was incorrect, which meant the regulations could not be enforced, but this has now been corrected, and police have warned that from Thursday, December 1, they will be issuing fixed penalty notices.
Residents have been warned by letter and told they are expected to park in the car park provided behind the houses.
Sgt Sarah Bartley of Haverhill Safer Neighbourhood Team said the action was being taken in answer to complaints from residents about the amount of parking which had been going on there.
