Thursday, 27th September 2001.
A £4,000 GRANT to help train volunteers in office skills has just been awarded to Haverhill Volunteer Centre.
A new training project will be launched within the volunteer centre with the £4,036 grant from VOLTS at Suffolk Acre.
The project will give volunteers a chance to gain office skills and work experience, to give them confidence within a work environment.
Training will be provided to improve computer skills as well as other aspects of office work.
Elaine Hewes, manager at the volunteer centre, said they were very pleased with to receive the cash, which was the first they had received for staff training.
It was hope the training would develop volunteers of any age and give them confidence to work with other community groups within the town.
Anyone interested in the new project should contact the Volunteer Centre on (01440) 708444.
