Vision Van gives shoppers a say in town development
Tuesday, 12th April 2011.
Shoppers at Friday’s market in Haverhill will be asked what their vision is for the town in 20 years' time.
The Vision Van, equipped with activities and information to help prompt ideas for how investment in the future should be made, will be on the market square all day.
Ian Poole, planning policy manager for St Edmundsbury Borough Council said: “We are asking local people to share their vision for Haverhill so we can try and make it happen.
"Recent investment in Haverhill came about because people told us what they wanted. Having proved that it works, we now want people to think wider and tell us what their aspirations are for their community in the future.”
The Vision Van will be on the market square from 9am to 3.30pm. Anyone who would like to share their vision can do so online at haverhillvision.org.uk or by calling 01284 757368 or by completing and returning a postcard, available at the Arts Centre, council offices and other places in town.
It is all part of the council's process of developing a masterplan for Haverhill, called Vision 2031, because it will address development of both building and services over the next 20 years.
