Vehicles are targeted in spate of vandalism
Thursday, 4th October 2001.
A SPATE of damage has been caused to a bus, taxis and cars in the Duddery Road area of Haverhill.
Inspector Mike Bacon, the town's sector comm-ander, has appealed to anyone who sees anything suspicious to dial 999 immediately so they can investigate.
Between Monday night and Tuesday morning a bus at Burton Coaches had several windows smashed in it and was out of action for four days.
A Peugeot people carrier taxi owned by the Call a Car firm, parked at the same site in Duddery Hill, also had its window broken at the same time.
On the same night two Pride Cars taxis had offside windows broken while they were parked in Homefield Road.
Between Sunday night and Monday morning, two parked cars in Duddery Hill were scratched and another in Helions Park Avenue.
Insp Bacon said the spate of vandalism was worrying and seemed to have happened in the early hours of the morning.
"It is mostly minor damage but the nuisance value to the owners is great and it puts every-one's insurance costs up.
"It's mindless vandalism and we want to stop it."
Anyone with information about the incidents or who has seen anything suspicious should contact Haverhill Police on (01284) 774100.
