Under-age alcohol sting catches three shops

Police carrying out a test purchase operation in Haverhill on Wednesday, November 20, issued fixed penalty notices to assistants in three shops for selling alcohol to under-age people.
The police used two teenagers, one of 15 and one of 16 to carry out the operation.
The assistants will have to pay the £90 fixed penalty, but in the case of two of the shops, trading standards officers and police will be making further investigations into the proprietors.
Police said they were not prepared to release the names of the shops concerned.
