Trading standards warning over digital switchover
Monday, 24th May 2010.
The digital switchover doesn’t hit Suffolk until 2011 but the county's trading standards officers are already warning that doorstep callers will be out and about trying to make some money.
Lesley Crompton, fair trading officer, said: “Rogue traders may prey on the vulnerable members of our community in the run-up to the switchover.
“Many people won’t need to change anything in order to receive digital television and for the few that do there is help available.”
Suffolk Trading Standards advise that you ask yourself: ‘Do I need to change anything?’. Ninety-five per cent of homes won’t need to do a thing as they are already set up for the change from analogue to digital.
For those that do need to make some changes there are a number of options including transforming your current analogue television by buying a set top box for around £40-£50.
