Town's latest new road officially named

Monday, 10th March 2014.

Loren Taylor, the winner of the Haverhill Research Park road-naming competition, and a student from the Castle Manor Academy, unveiled the new “Three Counties Way” road sign at the research park, today.

'Three Counties Way' was chosen as the winning name because the competition judges were impressed with Taylor’s argument for the name.

“The road is where the three counties, Suffolk, Essex, and Cambridgeshire meet," she said. "It is important that we have a connection with the people of the surrounding counties because it creates more job opportunities.”

The judges felt that 12-year-old Loren demonstrated creativity and appropriateness in coming up with the name because she took into account the history of Haverhill and the geography of the surrounding area of the research park.

Helen Chaplin, a member of the Haverhill Research Park’s marketing team said: “Today is a special one for Loren, there can’t be many young people who are responsible for naming a road which could remain in place for hundreds of years – she’s responsible for creating a bit of history in Haverhill and we are delighted to give her the opportunity to unveil the new road sign.

"It is also a milestone for the park as preparations for full-scale marketing of the park gather pace, ” she added.
