Town's economy under the spotlight
Wednesday, 18th November 2009.
All Haverhill businesses are invited to a special event focusing on the town's economy next week.
St Edmundsbury Borough Council is inviting all Haverhill business rate payers to its annual consultation meeting to be chaired by Cllr Nigel Aitkens, the council's cabinet member for economy and asset management. The theme this year is ‘rising out of recession’.
The event will be held at 6pm on Thursday, November 26, at Genzyme in Rookwood Way.
Cllr Aitkens, pictured, said: "This meeting is an opportunity for an exchange of views. We listen to what the business community has to tell us and we invite speakers who can let businesses know about future developments in Haverhill and what help is available for them in these difficult times."
The speakers include Martin Garratt, director of the Greater Cambridge Partnership, speaking about the relationship shared by Haverhill and Cambridge; Marcia Whitehead, partner at property company Bidwells, talking about the development of north-west Haverhill; Trevor Conway, business finance manager at the East of England Development Agency (EEDA), on business finance from EEDA, and Geoff Rivers, chief executive at St Edmundsbury Council, on the council’s plans for the coming year.
Attendance is free, but places must be booked by contacting the council's economic development services on 01284 757683 or economic.development@stedsbc.gov.uk
