Town golfer becomes county amateur matchplay champion

On Saturday and Sunday the Suffolk Amateur Matchplay Championship (President's Mashie) was contested at Halesworth Golf Club.
The course was in excellent condition, however the blustery weather conditions made club selection very difficult at times.
The semi-finals saw Chris Bartrum (Diss) defeat Danny Western (Gorleston) at the 20th hole, while Chris Vince (Haverhill) edged out Chris Soanes (Rookery Park) by 3 & 1.
Vince then went onto produce another excellent performance in the final to defeat Bartrum on the 17th to claim the title.
