Town council sets up new round of open-air 'surgeries'
Thursday, 28th August 2014.
Haverhill Town Council has announced that this September town residents will once again get the opportunity to quiz their town councillors on local issues, on their own doorsteps.
Councillors and the town clerk will ‘go walkabout’ and talk to residents at open-air surgeries across Haverhill.
The town council will be setting up its tent at the following locations:
North Ward: Wednesday, September 10, at the corner of the recreation area in Queensway, at the junction with North Avenue, 6pm-7pm;
West Ward: Thursday, September 11, at the corner of Haycocks Road by Sainsbury's roundabout, 6pm-7pm;
East Ward: Wednesday, September 17, in Strasbourg Square, 6pm to 7pm;
South Ward: Thursday, September 18, on the green in front of The Suffolk Punch, adjacent Leiston Community Centre, 6pm to 7pm.
The town council runs the Haverhill Arts Centre and its popular café. It also campaigns on behalf of the town, working with the borough and county councils to ensure their services are meeting the needs of local people.
It is a statutory consultee on planning matters and is an active partner in ONE Haverhill.
