Tour of Britain spectators to benefit from reduced Park and Ride fares
Wednesday, 9th September 2015.
Aviva Tour of Britain spectators planning on coming into Ipswich will be able to receive a reduced fare on Ipswich Buses Park and Ride services on Saturday 12 September.
Ipswich Buses are keen to support the Aviva Tour of Britain as it makes its way through Suffolk and finishes stage seven in Ipswich on Saturday 12 September, so have decided to offer passengers £1 off Adult or Group tickets.
Those wishing to take advantage of this offer need to visit the Ipswich Buses Park and Ride website to download a voucher, fill out their details then simply hand it to the driver on the day to receive £1 off.
Councillor Tony Goldson, Suffolk County Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, said: “Excitement is building across Suffolk as we get ready to welcome the Tour of Britain back to our county. We are a county of cycling enthusiasts and I know there will be plenty of people keen to watch the race.
“The route the race takes as it makes its way to the finish line in Ipswich will see some of the roads around the town temporary closed. This will inevitably have an impact on traffic.
“It’s great that Ipswich Buses have been able to offer the discount for passengers using the park and ride services, as it is an extra incentive for people to make their way to the finish line in Ipswich, whilst avoiding traffic in the town centre.”
Jeremy Cooper, Managing Director of Ipswich Buses, said: “Buses and bicycles are complimentary parts of sustainable transport and we are pleased to support access to the town centre for this exciting event”
