Top folk duo head for arts centre
Friday, 11th March 2011.
Spiers and Boden, the folk duo at the forefront of the recent folk revival (which has seen the popularity of groups like Mumford and Sons soar) come to Haverhill Arts Centre for a big night out of showmanship, stories, humour and raw, stomping energy.
The event is on Sunday, April 3, at 8pm and tickets are £14 and available from the Arts Centre box office 01440 714140 and the website www.haverhillartscentre.co.uk
John Spiers (melodeon, concertina) and Jon Boden (vocals, fiddle, guitar, stomp-box, BBC2 Folk Awards Singer of the Year) have been consistently wowing audiences up and down the country with their unique blend of traditional English folk with a contemporary twist.
Loud, proud, and with just a few acoustic instruments, they present traditional stories and dance music which are as much at home on the main stage of Cambridge Folk Festival as they are in the pub.
They made their name as joint-founders of Bellowhead, regularly collaborate with Eliza Carthy under the name of Eliza Carthy and The Ratcatchers, and are widely considered to be at the forefront of the new folk revival.
