Three diverse crimes - can you help police?
Tuesday, 16th August 2011.
Police are asking for help to catch those responsible for three very different crimes in Haverhill over the last few days - a couple of purse thieves, a dangerous dog and someone who steals drain covers.
A 24-year-old woman was on a double-decker bus at Haverhill bus station about 5.35pm yesterday when her purse was stolen from within her bag.
It is believed that a man and a woman were responsible for the theft. The woman is described as white, aged 30 to 35, of medium build, with shoulder length blonde hair tied up in a pony tail, a freckly face, scars on her arms and was wearing a long sleeved beige top and jeans.
The man is described as white, aged 30 to 35, of slim build, with short mousy-coloured hair shaved at the sides and was wearing a blue T-shirt with a pattern on the front and three-quarter-length trousers.
He had a tattoo on his left calf with a man's name on it in green ink. Both people were in company with another man.
Calls in relation to this incident should be made to PC Jane Mangnall at the Haverhill Neighbourhood Response Team on 01284 774100 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
In Chalkstone Way, between 10.45am and 11am yesterday a 46-year-old woman and her daughter were walking their young dog on the playing field by the new rugby club when a brown labrador not on a lead approached.
The victim picked up her dog to prevent the labrador from attacking it. The labrador jumped up at her causing bruising and scratches to her arm and hip.
The owner of the labrador then approached, took hold of the labrador and walked off. The owner of the labrador is described as a white man, aged approximately 40, of stocky build and was wearing blue jeans, a black T-shirt with a number on the back and sunglasses. He is believed to be a regular dog walker.
