Thefts bring warning to moped-owners
Tuesday, 8th June 2010.
Police have urged moped-owners to be vigilant and security-conscious in the wake of two more thefts.
There had been some thefts of mopeds and scooters, some from back gardens, a few weeks ago, but over the weekend two more were taken, from Fritton Court and Windsor Terrace.
Between 11pm on Friday and 6am on Saturday at Fritton Court, a red and white Yamaha Jog moped, registration AV58BWE, was stolen from a back garden where it had been left secure.
In Windsor Terrace, between 3am and 10am on Sunday, a black Direct moped, registration AY08EPD, was stolen.
Calls in relation to both incidents should be made to the Crime Investigation Bureau (CIB) on 01473 613500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Sgt Sarah Bartley of Haverhill Safer Neighbourhood Team said owners should make sure their vehicles were secure at all times, preferably in garages, but particularly if they were left in back gardens, and also be on the lookout for thieves.
At this time of year when they had been gardening, people often left shed doors or windows open at night but should make sure they had left everything secured.
