Tesco Jobs Boost for Haverhill!
Monday, 31st August 2009.
Over 3000 local people have applied for jobs at the new Tesco superstore in Haverhill.
The superstore, which has created 260 full and part time jobs, has now finished recruiting, and Store Manager Adrian Jones said the number of applications was overwhelming.
Adrian said: “In this time of economic uncertainty, it is great that we are able to create jobs and help get people back into work. The quality of applicants was fantastic and I am delighted with my new team.
“We are currently preparing for the launch of the new store on the 28th September, and look forward to playing an active role in the local community.”
Adrian continued: “All new recruits are currently on their company induction, and will then go on a basic training programme and then given training specific to their department to ensure that they are fully trained prior to the opening.”
The store recruited through the local Job Centre Plus. People who were interested in applying for a job at the new Tesco superstore were directed to the Tesco recruitment website.
The new superstore is due to open on Monday 28th September. The official opening ceremony will take place at 10am, when a £1000 donation will be presented to a local charity as part of the opening celebrations. In addition, there will be glasses of champagne, orange juice and cake on offer for the first customers.
The store will offer customers a great range of products, from every day essentials to dairy, fresh fruit and veg, frozen food, and beers, wines and spirits. In addition, the store will have fresh meat and fish counters as well as a bakery, making it the perfect place to complete your weekly shop!
The new store will also provide non-food departments including clothing, health and beauty, toys, home entertainment, and a cookshop and homeshop.
The store will be open from 7am – 11pm Monday to Saturday and 10am – 4pm on Sundays.
