Tennis day is smash hit
Thursday, 20th June 2002.
Wimbledon fever arrived early in Haverhlll as budding tennis stars took to the courts to enjoy an open day.
Young and old spent the day bashing balls and developing skills including ball control with their rackets.
The day was part of the club’s drive to familiarise new people with the game of tennis and was open to all alike— whether novices or skilled players.
As well as being fun there were prizes on offer to competitors ranging from the under 13s right up to adult novices.
The club is also organising an open tennis tournament on Saturday, July 13, for girls and boys of various age groups.
Entry is by application at £2 per event and there will be trophies for the winners.
Entry forms available from the Leisure Centre and schools.
