Taylor hopes to close on leader

Thursday, 25th May 2000.

Haverhill racing driver Gerry Taylor hopes to close the gap as the Caterham Premier Division championship moves into top gear.
There are races at Donnington Park on Bank Holiday Monday, followed by the long trek north for a double-header meeting at Knockhill in Scotland the following weekend.
By the time the teams contesting the PTP Autosport Caterham Superlight Challenge and Safety Devices Caterham Roadsport Challenge return from Scotland, both series will have reached the midway point, so the coming fortnight could prove vital for many championship hopefuls.
Taylor is just 10 points behind leader Rob Jenkinson, and is well poised to take advantage of any slip from the leader.
He just missed out on winning at Snetterton in the last round by one hundreth of a second,. and will be hoping to go one better this time.
The other contenders include Matt Bentley (Buckingham), Alexander Pilgrim (Rayleigh), Jamie Unwin (Uckfield) and John Stack (Cobham).
