Taxi Driver Injured In Row With Youths
By Jo Deeks on Thursday, 28th April 2005.
A taxi driver was punched in the face and assaulted by two youths as he waited outside his vehicle for a customer last Friday night.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at around 11pm, when the 36 year old local taxi driver was waiting near the Woolwich Building Society in High Street, Haverhill. He became involved in a row with a group of five youths and was then physically assaulted by two of the youths who punched him in the face causing a cut to his bottom lip. The customer he was waiting to pick up shouted at the youths and they ran from the scene.
The offenders are described as: one male, white, approximately 5ft 8inches tall, in his mid teens, of very thin build, wearing a red and white striped baseball cap; the second also male, white, of skinny build, in his mid teens, wearing cut-off three quarter length trousers.
Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident. The area would have been busy around the time of the offence so police are confident that someone will have information to assist with enquiries.
Any details should be passed to PC Nicholas Smith on (01284) 774100
