Sun shines for this week's outdoor events
Tuesday, 24th July 2012.
The summer has arrived in time for a series of outdoor events promoted by Haverhill Town Council this week.
Tonight, Outspoken Theatre perform Shakespeare's comedy As You Like It at East Town Park, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets available on the gate, bring a chair and a picnic if you want.
The Big Day Out is tomorrow on the Recreation Ground. Between 10am and 4pm there will be workshops, advice and information and lots of free activities.
This year come along and experience the massive Olympic inflatable obstacle course and a gigantic zipwire. Wristbands to allow you to take part in the activities will be available from the bandstand.
The council has brought together local groups and charities raising funds and providing information about what they do at The Big Bash on Sunday between 11am and 5pm.
It also takes place on the Recreation Ground where there will be music from Haverhill Youth and Community Band and Centre Stage Company, plus a giant car boot sale, stalls, entertainment, displays, refreshments and more.
The event also includes the St Nicholas Hospice Sumo Race. You can do something daft to raise funds for St Nicholas Hospice, by clambering into your suit (provided) and seeing if you can be crowned the fastest sumo in town!
Entry is £15 with the races taking place between 11am and 1pm. Contact 01284 766133 for more details or fundraising@stnh.org.uk or pick one up from Haverhill Arts Centre.
Car boot sale: no cars before 9am, no booking necessary, £6 per car, £10 per van, no traders.
