Success all round
Monday, 19th November 2001.
With the weather becoming colder and the nights drawing in, it is a difficult time of year for staff and pupils.
But with lower school football and netball matches, a sixth form Children in Need extravaganza and visits to a number of drama productions, it has been a happy week at school.
In addition to all this the PE department learned that it has gained the Sportsmark Award for quality in PE / Sport provision, and the school also learned that it had been successful in its re-assessment for Investors In People – the third time in a row.
Meanwhile on the sports field - Congratulations this week to our Year 10 footballers who defeated Hadleigh High School in the second round of the County Cup.
Despite a poor start to the game, Hadliegh took a 3 goal lead, but Samuel Ward clawed their way back thanks to a hat trick form Ryan Kent, a find effort from James Krause, and a 25 yard chip from Darren Wilkinson, to win 5-3.
Special mention goes to Martin Smithson who played a find game in the middle of midfield.
Our Year 9 side will go on to play County Upper in the 2nd Round of the BT County Cup.
