Struggling Haverhill fall down
Thursday, 25th October 2001.
FULL-BACK Steve Power kicked Haverhill’s only three points in a 27-3 defeat by Cantabrgian at Castle Pavilion on Saturday.
The effort put Haverhill 3-0 in front but it was all square at 3-3 at the turnabout in the Eastern Counties Division Two tussle.
The visitors, though, forged ahead on the second half with a late flurry of tries to run out comfortable winners.
Haverhill coach Shaun McLeod-Jones said his side missed influential fly-half Mark Jury and that they faded from the game in the later stages.
Jury has been out for almost a month with knee ligament problems and the coach said: “We are hoping that he will be back within a couple of weeks.
”It has been difficult to get our team to play together,” added McLeod-Jones, who has had selection problems caused by injuries and unavailabilities this term.
