Strider Luke is so quick off the mark

Haverhill Striders Athletics Academy have turned their attention to -road and track races, shattering club records.
The Linton fun run drew several club runners out to compete on a new 3 km course.
Luke Cocks, 12, competed against 100 runners of all ages and abilities to finish third overall after sprinting ahead from the gun and maintaining a solid position against two older lads in front.
Alexander Westdijk, nine, finished sixth, ahead of many of his school rivals. A new recruit for the Striders, Charlotte Westdijk, also had a goad race finishing amongst the leading girls in her race.
Several juniors participated in the Chelmsford track open. Cocks shattered the club record in the under 15 boys’ category in the 1500m with an excellent run to finish sixth in 5 mins, 3 sees. Lauren Rosier, 12, smashed a second club record in the under 15 girls’ 1500 min 5 mins 42 secs.
