Street entertainment comes to town's Saturday market
Wednesday, 14th May 2014.
They’ll be dancing in the street and swinging and swaying in Haverhill on Saturday when live entertainment comes to the market place.
Among the performers will be a steel pan drummer with sounds of the Caribbean and international hula-hoop star Angie Mack who has featured in music videos and appeared at Glastonbury Festival.
Shoppers and visitors to the market – children and adults - will have the chance to try hula-hooping, add their creative input to a graffiti wall and watch street-dancing and beat-boxing.
Younger visitors can enter a free teddy bear hunt, with a bear for every entrant.
The activities on Saturday have been organised by St Edmundsbury Borough Council to promote the national Love Your Local Market campaign.
There will also be stalls run by young traders who have been given free pitches for the day to help them launch their businesses.
Sharon Fairweather, market development officer for West Suffolk, said: “Shopping in a market is always a lively experience and we’re sure people will enjoy the sounds and sights we’ve arranged to promote what the local market has to offer.
“The market is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to try out a business idea and we’d welcome more traders.”
