Step closer for new Buisness Park
Tuesday, 3rd December 2002.
A NEW business Park for Haverhill has moved a step closer after receiving planning consent for the first road into the site.
The 64-acre Haverhill Business Park, off the bypass, is expected to become the town's largest employment area when fully developed. Developer Carisbrooke Suon has received approval for its plan to create a new roundabout and access road off Bumpstead Road, at the western extremity of the site, close to the A1017.
The site has potential for almost a million square feet of development, including warehousing, office and research facilities, as well as a roadside restaurant, petrol filling station and hotel.
Nic Rumsey, director of Carisbrooke, welcomed the planning approval.
He said: "We are progressing quickly with Haverhill Business Park and the council's decision reflects the support we have in terms of creating the number one location for business in the town."
Carisbrooke has signed an agreement with both St Edmundsbury Borough and Braintree District Councils for a package of planning benefits for the local community, including a traffic management system, comprehensive landscaping, cycle routes and a wild grassland area.
