Staff prevent burgulary
By Martin Chapman on Wednesday, 11th August 2004.
Staff at a Haverhill supermarket appeared to have foiled an attempted burglary.
At approximately 01.48 on Wednesday morning, three people forced their way into the Sainsbury’s supermarket, in Hanchett End, and attempted to remove money from cash machines and tills.
The offenders were then approached by staff who were in the store, and they left the building, making their exit from the site using a dark coloured, Audi car.
It isn’t thought that the offenders managed to escape with anything, and no one was injured during the incident.
The offenders have been described as tall, slim, and were wearing balaclavas. They were also carrying crowbars.
Anyone with information regarding the incident, whether they saw the offenders or the car in which they were driving is asked to contact DC Matthews on 01284 774100. Calls can also be made in full confidence using Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
