Stabbing victim is improving

The victim of a stabbing is improving, as a man appears in court.
A Haverhill man has been charged following a court appearance, after the stabbing which occurred early on Saturday morning.
Colin Brown, of Connaught Road, Haverhill appeared before Bury St Edmunds magistrates court. He was charged with wounding Lester Whitehead with intent, causing him grievous bodily harm. His case has now been sent to Ipswich Crown Court.
Brown, was remanded in custody until a preliminary hearing at Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday, November 11th. He made no application for bail.
Lester Whitehead was taken to Addenbrookes hospital in Cambridge where he underwent surgery for a wound on the stomach. At the time his condition was described as stable. A spokesperson for the hospital has now said his condition is “improving.”
A second man, who was arrested following the incident, has now been released on police bail. The 27 year old male from the town must return to Bury St Edmunds police station on November 30th.
Following the incident, police officers closed a section of the High Street from the White Hart pub to Eden Road until around lunchtime on Saturday.
