Springtime for a debut single girl

By Jo Deeks on Thursday, 15th March 2001.

A SINGER who started out in am-dram shows is hoping to hit the big time when her first single is released next month.
Apryl May, 25, was still working at Project Office Furniture, Haverhill six weeks ago, but left to promote her debut single, Stay, which will be released by Pure Stirling Records on April 2.
Apryl, from Cavendish and a former pupil of Samuel Ward Upper School in Haverhill, was a member of the Kid CADs at Clare and also involved in other groups with Nick Keeble, now Haverhill Town Council's Leisure Worker.
Her single is being played on MTV and she is now working to finish an album.
Apryl has kept working in the Haverhill area to earn her living but has never given up her dream of being a singer, which she has held all her life.
She said: "It has been a lot of hard work for a long time but hopefully it will all be worth it.
"Project were brilliant. I was working there from 8am to 3pm then going off to the studio to record.
"The single has been signed up for Germany, Brazil and France so I will be going over to Germany to promote it.
"It is quite exciting really because I have never really been abroad that much."
Apryl was spotted in London by Pure Stirling records after joining a boy/girl band called Tantrum, with whom she performed and recorded for 18 months.
Before that, she spent a spell as the opening act at the former Newmarket Cabaret Club.
