Sponsors needed for Contest
Tuesday, 31st December 2002.
HAVERHILL Sinfonia is searching for companies or individuals who would be interested in supporting talented international musicians, by sponsoring prizes at their annual soloists' competition.
Plans are already being made for the 14th Haverhill Sinfonia Soloist Competition, to be held in September.
There will be a number of new prizes of £200 each including Best Performance of a work by a British Composer and Best Performance of a work written since 1963.
Sponsors receive extensive publicity and their names can be included as part of the new prizes, making it individual.
A sponsor has already been found for the prize of Best Accompanist.
A further development will be the addition of marimba to the current categories of woodwind, brass, strings, piano and singers.
This year, 25 competitors, selected from 134 entrants of 25 nationalities, travelled to Haverhill.
There were prizes to the value of £2,810, plus 14 performance prizes with Haverhill Sinfonia, South Bank Symphony, Bedford Sinfonia and recitals in Colchester, Glasgow, Haverhill, Louth, Skegness, Southend and Wisbech.
Additional performances are being arranged for 2003, both with orchestras and other venues for recitals.
Please contact Haverhill Sinfonia as soon as possible by calling (01440) 763799 or visit the website for further details at http://uk.geocities. com/haverhillsinfonia
