Spate of minor crime across the area

A spate of crime of all sorts has struck Haverhill and the surrounding area over recent days.

Burglaries, damage, theft and arson have been among the incidents reported to police.

In Conway Close between 8pm on Saturday and 10am on Sunday, the front windscreen of a blue Ford Fiesta was smashed, and between 11pm on Saturday and 11.30am on Sunday two England flags hanging from the front of a house were set alight.

These two incidents are being linked and calls in relation to them should be made to PC Dan Steel at Haverhill Police on 01284 774100 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

In Argyll Court, between 11.55am and 2.25pm on Friday, burglars got into a house through an unlocked window and stole a laptop and an Xbox.

In Coupals Road, between 8am on Friday and 7.45am on Saturday, glass was stolen from wing mirrors on a green Volvo and a silver Vauxhall Corsa.

An attempt was also made to remove the glass from a wing mirror on a red Vauxhall Corsa and one mirror was found near Roman Way.

In Turner Close between 10am on Friday and 6am on Saturday a silver Audi was stolen from a driveway and was later found burnt out in Higham Road in Tuddenham.

In Jubilee Walk car park, between 10.50am and 11.15am on Saturday, the number plate was stolen from a green Kawasaki motorbike, damaging the bodywork and indicator.

In Ruskin Close, between 2.55am and 3.05am on Sunday, two girls were disturbed while trying to steal garden ornaments.

A neighbour challenged them, and one of them dropped a garden ornament before running away.

The first girl is described as white, in her early teens, around 5ft 6in tall, of slim build with dark hair tied back and was wearing a long sleeved striped sweatshirt and dark trousers.

Her companion was white, in her early teens, around 5ft 6in tall, of slim to medium build with long brown hair and was wearing a light blue tracksuit, zipped top and dark trousers.

In Fallowfield Court, between 9am and 4.50pm on Monday, burglars got into a house through an unlocked window and stole a Nintendo Wii and a charger.

In Mill Road, between 9.30pm on Sunday and 7.30am on Monday vandals damaged vegetables growing in a garden, and a fence outside a neighbouring property.

There were similar thefts and burglaries in Cavendish, Wickhambrook, Lidgate and Hundon.

What on earth is going on? This is normally such a low-crime area.
