Skate for the Day!
Wednesday, 8th January 2003.
YOUNGSTERS at Wickhambrook who are campaigning for their own skatepark had their wish granted just for the day on Monday.
A mobile skatepark was set up in the car park of the Greyhound Inn for a free one-off event staged by St Edmundsbury Borough Council. The skatepark, featuring a half-pipe and full streetcourse was available to skateboarders, BMX riders and bladers of all ages, from novices to experienced riders.
Youngsters were able to develop their skills on the large set-up of obstacles including quarter-pipes, flatbanks, driveways, grind boxes and fly-offs. The initiative was a follow-up to a highly popular visit by the skatepark to Bury St Edmunds town centre and in response to Wickhambrook's bid for its own skatepark.
