Seven years for Haverhill armed burglar
Friday, 18th May 2012.
A 29-year-old man has been sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to an aggravated burglary in Haverhill.
On Wednedsday, Ipswich Crown Court heard Lee Holland, of Wellington Terrace, Haverhill, entered a residential property in Clarendon Road on Thursday, January 19.
He armed himself with a knife and a rolling pin from the kitchen.
The address was occupied at the time. The victim was able to contact police who responded quickly and arrested Holland later that day.
Holland had been convicted of a previous Haverhill burglary in 2009.
DC Cat Thompson said after the hearing: "This was a serious crime that was intimidating to the victim.
"Thanks to swift police action, we were able to make an arrest and conduct a thorough investigation which could bring the offender before the courts.
"This sentence will remind all criminals that a robust custodial sentence can await them as a result of their actions."
