Sean's A Favourite Among Customers
Thursday, 21st October 2004.
After taking the title of Suffolk's Favourite Plumber, Sean Whiting is waiting to see if he can carry off the award for Britain's Favourite Plumber.
Mr Whiting, 30, who runs Gold Star Heating and Plumbing, is one of six plumbers across the UK to make it to the finals of Britain's Favourite Plumber Awards, which will be held at the end of the year.
Mr Whiting, from Boyton Close, Haverhill, received his training from British Gas and worked for them for 10 years, before starting up his own firm three years ago.
He now employs an apprentice and is the local agent to Worcester Bosch boilers.
Mr Whiting was told a number of his customers had nominated him for the award, although he does not know which ones.
"I am well pleased. It is not everyone who can say they are a county champion," Mr Whiting said.
"It is good that the customers have nominated us. I would like to thank all the customers for their support."
Organised every three years by the Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering, the awards are judged upon technical ability, professionalism, knowledge and committment to customer service.
Sean now goes through to the South East round of the competition, and if successful, could go on to the final.
The overall national winner will receive a trip to New Zealand.
