Scout and guide bag-packing raises £1,500
Friday, 27th December 2013.
Haverhill scouts and guides have taken a huge step towards raising the funds needed to restore their headquarters after a pre-Christmas bag-pack raised more than £1,500 for the group.
The youngsters were at Sainsbury's Haverhill - the supermarket that has adopted the group's fund raising effort as its community cause for the year - to help shoppers pack away their Christmas shopping on 'Stampede Sunday', December 22.
Their efforts managed to raise £1,591.85 for their fund raising endeavour.
Explorer Scouts leader assistant Debbie Hodges said: "The bag packing went really well, and we'd like to thank everyone who supported us."
The group is aiming to raise £130,000 for much-needed replacements for the existing two huts at its headquarters in Colne Valley Road, with around £40,000 raised for the project already.
