School scoops singing cash prize

SINGING carols in Haverhill High Street in December won pupils at New Cangle Primary School, pictured, a £250 prize in a national competition.
The school won joint first prize in the competition organised by Adams Children's Wear and the manager of its store in Haverhill came along to present it.
Year Four pupils from the school sang carols outside the Adam's shop in Haverhill High Street for an hour and raised £208.70 for Save the Children, out of a nationwide total of £40,000.
The school came joint first in the region when the shop takings for the day and the collection were taken into consideration.
The school has taken part in the event for a number of years and feels it gives pupils an excellent opportunity to perform for a real audience and give a contribution back to the community.
The prize money will Be used to buy a Roamer programmable robot and music keyboards for the school.
