School look's ahead

Seventeen students have recently returned from a fantastic German exchange with our twin town in Germany which saw pupils develop academically as well as socially. The twenty-first exchange with Gesamtschule in Ehringhausen. This year pupils from across the school experienced cultures from around the world at Expo in Hanover and saw the life of Gother, a famous German writer. Students also enjoyed a tour of the local German television and radio station HR in Frankfurt.
Rehearsals for the school play, Wyrd Sisters by Terry Pratchett has continued, this year being organised by pupils from the Sixth Form. Parents and pupils who attended the school open evening last week were treated to a preview of the play, which is planned for early next year.
Any parents who were unable to attend last weeks open evening are welcome to an informal visit of the school during a working day. Please ring the school office on (01440) 761511
The school computer network is being extended as part of the school's technology college status over the next few weeks. Until Christmas the school will by piloting 'Breakfast Bytes' where pupils can come into the school early to get in some early morning revision or homework and get a chance to eat breakfast.
For all years of the school the next half term is going to be busy with year 11 taking their mock G.C.S.E.s in December as year nine experience 'The World of Work' for the first time when they shadow their parents for a day.
For the lower sixth many visits have been planned during their enhancement week. Geography students will be visiting the London Docklands to practise skills required for their AS geography exam in the summer and for those who chose to continue to A Level geography their coursework.
French students in both the upper and lower sixth will be visiting Lille and Physics students will be going to a lecture about the London Eye, which year twelve will visit, to collect data for the Key Skills portfolios. Students will also have the choice of visiting The Tate, Old Bailey, Natural History or Science Museum at the end of enhancement week. And of course who can't forget the Sixth Form Ball.
And if you still don’t think that school can't be interesting then the last day of term see's the return of 'Star's in their Eyes' The rehearsals begin soon and both staff and students are promising to excel themselves again.
In Golf, Luke Williams, Richard Drew and Ben Steward all completed the county final, held at Felixstowe over half-term. Despite poor weather conditions, all three played well, with Luke Williams finishing third overall.
