School artwork survives attack by vandal
Tuesday, 3rd August 2010.
A vandal with some paint made an attempt to deface artwork done by schoolchildren to brighten up a footpath in Haverhill.
Fortunately the artwork, in a Park Road underpass, had been coated with a protective layer so council workmen were able to remove the graffiti.
The incident happened between Monday, July 19, and Saturday, July 31. Grey paint was used to write obscene words across artwork of coloured footprints in patterns created by Parkway Middle School children.
The artwork was the result of a community art project at the school, supported by local police officer PC Will Wright, who is now anxious for information to catch the vandal who tried to damage it.
PC Mike Potter of Haverhill Safer Neighbourhood Team appealed for any resident in the area who saw anyone with can of spray paint between those two dates to contact police with their information.
